Goodbye Mr MacKenzie, one of Scotland’s most distinctive and influential alternative bands, built a strong reputation for dramatic, high-energy live performances and intelligent, often darkly poetic songwriting.
The group’s debut album ‘Good Deeds and Dirty Rags’ was released in 1988 and featured some of their best-known songs, including ‘The Rattler’ and ‘Open Your Arms’.
After two more albums, however, the band split in 1993; a year later Shirley Manson joined Garbage and, 17 million album sales later, she and the band continue to explore and celebrate rock music as a vehicle for change to new audiences across the globe.
In 2019 Goodbye Mr MacKenzie reformed and in 2024 a remastered version of their third album Five debuted in the top 5 of the Scottish album charts. For 2026, the band have had a Biography released chronicling the band's fascinating story, they are supporting Garbage at Edinburgh Castle and are Special Guests on the Rezillos shows in London & Nottingham. Anticipation continues to build around their live shows and the prospect of some new music!
