With his first hometown show in 5 years Joe Ramsey returns to The Georgian Theatre this October.
Joe Ramsey steps into bold new creative territory with his mesmerising new single, ‘Read the Room’, the title track from his ‘Read the Room’ EP. Expanding his signature indie-folk sound, Ramsey leans into a darker, more cinematic sonic palette, delivering his most ambitious and fully realised work to date.
Built around haunting acoustic foundations that gradually unfold into sweeping electric textures, ‘Read the Room’ captures a sense of emotional weight and narrative depth. Produced by James Kenosha (Mosa Wild, PASTELS, Gavin James), the track balances intimacy and scale, moving from delicate fingerpicked guitar to expansive, Americana-tinged rock arrangements. Ramsey’s commanding vocal performance anchors the song throughout, shifting between restraint and raw intensity with striking control.
The release is accompanied by a visually stunning music video, directed and produced by Barely A Square. Presented as a modern Western short film, the video follows a lone cowboy narrative steeped in symbolism, survival, and moral descent. Featuring Lee Jackson and Harrison Edmonds, alongside Dennis Baer as the antagonist figure, the story unfolds as a stylised shootout saga, culminating in a powerful final scene where Ramsey’s character confronts, and ultimately makes a pact with, the devil himself.
With its evocative storytelling, rich instrumentation, and striking visual counterpart, ‘Read the Room’ marks a defining moment in Joe Ramsey’s artistic evolution, cementing him as a distinctive and compelling voice within modern indie-folk.
