Where jazz meets hip-hop and electronic, The Herbaliser have been setting the blueprint for three decades.
Formed in London in the early ’90s by Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba, The Herbaliser emerged from the UK’s burgeoning instrumental hip-hop scene and became closely associated with the influential Ninja Tune label. Their distinctive sound blends hard-hitting beats and turntablism with jazz, funk, soul and cinematic influences.
From Blow Your Headphones and Very Mercenary to Take London and Bring Out the Sound, their extensive catalogue spans more than 30 years. Alongside their studio work, The Herbaliser have grown into a substantial live band, bringing their sample-heavy productions to the stage with horns, bass, drums, keyboards and turntables.
