Piaras Ó Lorcáin in Concert
Following his sold-out Patrick O’Keeffe Festival concert last year, Piaras Ó Lorcáin returns to Castleisland to open the 2026 festival with another special evening of music.
Date: Thursday, 22 October 2026
Time: 8:00 PM
Venue: River Island Hotel, Castleisland, Co. Kerry
From Crossmaglen in County Armagh, Piaras has emerged as one of the most distinctive young voices in Irish traditional singing. Immersed in music and the Irish language from an early age, he is renowned for his rich, expressive sean-nós singing and his deep connection to the song tradition of Oriel.
Piaras has enjoyed considerable success at the Fleadh Cheoil, Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Scór and other major traditional music competitions. In 2024, his recording of “Seán Gabha” with Bláth na hÓige was named Best Traditional Folk Track at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.
A gifted multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar and bouzouki, Piaras has appeared at leading festivals, on TG4 and at Other Voices. He is also a member of The Railway Boys and continues to bring the songs and stories of his native region to new audiences throughout Ireland and beyond.
Whether singing unaccompanied in the intimate sean-nós tradition or performing alongside fellow musicians, Piaras combines a profound respect for the tradition with a fresh and compelling stage presence.
After the wonderful reception and packed house that greeted him in Castleisland last year, we are delighted to welcome Piaras back for what promises to be another memorable opening night.
Join us for an intimate and stirring celebration of Irish traditional singing as the 34th Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival gets underway.
Early booking is strongly recommended following last year’s sold-out concert.
