Mysterious and alluring, New York’s Chanel Beads plays Australia for the first time, bringing his dreamy swirl of spectral electronica, indie-pop and post-punk edge to Vivid Sydney.
The project of American musician Shave Lavers, Chanel Beads’ debut album Your Day Will Come (2024) was released to acclaim – including Pitchfork celebrating its “strange kind of beauty”, and Paper Magazine stating Lavers “captures the fractalized feeling of contemporary life”.
Playing with sound compression, sound collage, string recordings, acoustic guitar and ’80 sophisti-pop, Chanel Beads’ experiments are both new and nostalgic.
Recently supporting Lorde, Grizzly Bear and Mount Kimbie, Chanel Beads has won over pop, indie and electronic fans with an impressive live show.
